Our Philosophy

At Amaroo Child Care Centre, we aim to provide the highest level of care and education for your child within a relaxed, loving and healthy atmosphere. Providing a feeling of acceptance and belonging enables individual children to feel safe and secure in order to be able to express themselves in a positive and productive manner.

At Amaroo we believe that children learn through play. Play is an essential part of a child’s growth and development. Through play, children learn to create, inquire and express themselves. We take our children’s leads and follow through with requests, interests and feelings. We also believe that play based approaches also require intentional planning and teaching in order to support and extend children’s learning.

Our program is supported by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), which is built on a vision where all children experience learning that is engaging and builds success for later life. There is an emphasis on play based learning and teaching and that children have a right to play under the principles of the United Nations Convention on the rights of the child (UNICEF).

Our educational play based program assists children in the development of the whole child, their physical, social, emotional, cognitive and creative growth. Both indoor and outdoor experiences are provided where the children are able to explore, experiment, inquire, problem solve and investigate. Our program and environment provides children with maximum learning opportunities, which cater for varying abilities, ages and stages.

Our educators are seen as role models who support each individual child and their families, and assist children in engaging in the best possible learning through nurturing and enhancing their wellbeing and sense of belonging.

We recognise the importance of creating a link between home and the centre, where educators and families work in partnership to develop the child as a whole in a supportive and caring environment. We value our family’s ideas, requests and skills, and acknowledge the uniqueness of each family and the significance of their cultural beliefs.

Our Educational Program

Our educational program aims to support and advance all childrens learning and development from birth to eight years. Our program is supported by the Early Years Learning framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standards (NQS).

The Early Years Learning Framework EYLF supports all early childhood professionals to work collaboratively with one another and families to achieve common outcomes for all children. The framework identifies five learning outcomes for all children, which all educators use within their programming in all areas, including portfolios and program plans. These outcoms are:

  • - Children have a strong sense of identity
  • - Children are connected with and contribute to their world
  • - Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
  • - Children are confident and involved learners
  • - Children are effective communicators

Our program is also based upon the Emergent Curriculum approach, where not only does the curriculum come from the children’s ideas and interests by also through collaboration and a combination of a range of sources including staff interests and skills, parental expectations, seasonal events, the community, child development knowledge, care routines and unexpected and spontaneous events. The emergent curriculum also provides choice and encourages the children to be responsible for their learning. Our program will continue to emerge with the children’s ideas, interests and feelings.

Amaroo is dedicated to ensuring that parents have influence and input into their children's learning and maximum access to their child's portfolios and programs. therefore, we use a web based app called Keptme to do all of our programming related documentation. This app allows us to easily capture moments throughout your child's day and instantly upload images, videos, learning stories, observations, daily reflections and artwork samples to your child's digital portfolio (only accessible by you and Amaroo educators). This means that you as a parent can experience real time visual updates about your childs daily activities and learning, as well as have 24hr access to their portfolio and have the ability to comment on uploaded content. Strengthening communication and collaboration between Educators and parents, ensuring the best possible educational program for your child.

All of our staff are Diploma/Bachelor Trained or are currently studying their Diplomas; meaning every staff member has a working knowledge of the EYLF/NQS, and can confidently contribute to your child's educational program.

Staff under go regular in-services and professional development training to ensure their knowledge and practices are current

Amaroo's educational program offers an environment that is rich in experiences that are appropriate to each child’s individual needs and differing stages of development.
